Since then, Dr. Domenico Calcaterra has held positions as the Director of the Aortic Surgery Program at the University of Iowa College of Medicine (2008-2012), Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery at the Indiana University School of Medicine (2012-2014), and Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Hennepin County Medical Center (January 2015-2017).
Dr. Domenico Calcaterra is highly qualified in the field of cardiac surgery, having earned board certification in various subspecialties. He was accepted by medical boards in four different states: Minnesota, Florida, Indiana, and Iowa. He was able to earn his medical license in the USA in 1998. He earned a fellowship in Advanced Trauma Operative Management in 2004, and another in Basic Critical Care Support the following year. In 2005, he earned his Board Certification in General Surgery; in 2007, he earned his Board Certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery. The American College of Surgeons didn't accept him as a Fellow until 2010.
