Smelting is essentially when you turn ores into pubs, and the best part is that it's hugely rewarding. For example to smelt a steel bar you want 1 iron and two coal ores. Iron=100 coins and Coal= 178 coins. So to make 1 bar you'd mine 1 iron and two coals, if you simply sold the ores you'd have gotten about 456 coins. But if you smelted them you'd have gotten around 163 coins more since a steel bar is 619 coins.

Firemaking Useless and non-profitable, in my opinion. Prayer is a really useful ability when it comes to battle, buy you can't actually make any money of it (in fact you can even lose money). A personal favourite! Personally, I think that Crafting is a fantastic ability to make money in. The easiest way is by killing cows in Lumbridge, carrying the cowhides into the tanner in Al- Kharid, then turning them into leather when you have a low crafting lvl or to hard leather if you've got a greater crafting lvl (28+). So essentially you get a whole bunch of cowhides (28) and flip them into leather (28 coins invested ) or leather (84 coins invested ). Then buy a needle and thread and start crafting what you can.

Have you ever been at a haphazard event, gotten some type of gem and stated,"Whatever... I will just set it in my bank and wait patiently until I need it"? Well now is that you need it because in crafting you can also turn gold and stone into pieces of jewelry. To make the simplest piece of jewelry which includes a gem you'll require a crafting lvl of 22. So basically to make jewelry with gems you want a gold bar (made by smelting gold ore), a mold (bought from crafting shop), and a gem. That means you would"use" the gold bar on the furnace and then select which sort of jewelry you need to create. It is as easy as that!

So in my opinion crafting is a wonderful skill which if done properly will earn you a great deal of money. Mining is probably the most popular skill in most of Runescape. Why? Because mining is a great way to make money and OSRS buy gold the best thing is you don't need to be a high lvl in the ability. The money starts racking in at lvl 15!!!
