Most tubeless tires use Tubeless Snap Tire Valve stems that is fitted to the rim by lubricating the valve stem assembly with water base tire mounting lubricant and pull through the valve stem mounting hole with the valve stem mounting tool. Valve stems are meant to be replaced every 4 to 5 years as the rubber will deteriorate due to daily exposure to the sun and the constant flexing due to centrifugal force of the rotating wheel. If the valve stem is made of metal, they will last a lot longer but the rubber gasket on the base of the stem will still deform and leak. Most tire shops will demand the valve stems be changed at the time of tire replacement. Most of the time when the owner wash or wax the rim, they are likely to flex the stem and cause the stem to crack or break due to the brittleness of the stem.
