1) For mold parts with simple shapes and small stamping dimensions, ordinary carbon tool steel is often used.

2) For mold parts with complex shapes and large stamping parts, alloy tool steel or high-speed tool steel is often used.

3) For stamping parts or mold processing parts with high mold life accuracy, cemented carbide or steel cemented carbide is usually used.

4) For the working parts of large molds, ordinary cast iron or cast carbon steel is used, and the tip part is also welded and strengthened.

When selecting mold parts and materials, in addition to the most important work parts selection, the pillars and guide sleeve parts are also more prominent. Generally, low-carbon steel in high-quality carbon steel is used for carburizing and quenching or bearing steel. It must be pointed out that the material selection of mold parts is the most important and strictest, and the requirements of the heat treatment industry must be reasonable.

Either alloy cast iron or high-strength ductile iron can be used. Nodular cast iron can be immersed in lubricating oil, and the graphite in the structure has a self-lubricating effect, which can effectively reduce the friction during drawing, with low cost and easy processing.
